Newcastle Bahá'ís
Local Bahá'ís and their friends planting trees in Nunsmoor Park
This web page relates to the Bahá'í community of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, home of Newcastle United Football Club, the Geordie dialect and the stottie cake.
We are a relatively small community, working with friends, neighbours and other local groups to improve the spiritual life of individuals and communities within our city.
For the time being, this page is a basic introduction to our activities and how to get in touch with us, if you would like to know more we will be happy to hear from you.
The Bahá'ís of Newcastle engage in a variety of activities to learn more about the unifying message revealed by Bahá'u'lláh, and put His teachings into action to create a community that advances spiritually as well as materially. Some examples of these activities can be found below.
A video introducing Bahá'u'lláh and the impact His teachings are having around the world.
Devotional Gatherings
“Praise be to God, thy heart is engaged in the commemoration of God, thy soul is gladdened by the glad tidings of God and thou art absorbed in prayer. The state of prayer is the best of conditions…” - 'Abdu'l-Bahá
In several Bahá'í homes within our city, Bahá'ís gather on a regular basis with their friends and neighbours to unite in music and prayer, creating a spirit of devotion that is fundamental in a balanced approach to personal and community advancement. You are welcome to come and join in.
Children's Classes
“If love and agreement are manifest in a single family, that family will advance, become illumined and spiritual…”- 'Abdu'l-Bahá
Our classes for children are primarily based around understanding and acquiring spiritual virtues. Using songs, stories and games, each lesson focuses on learning how to put a particular virtue into action, such virtues include love, truthfulness, cleanliness, courage, humility and justice, to name just a small selection of them. Our classes are open to all children, so please get in touch if you might like your children to attend.
Junior Youth Programmes
“They assist junior youth to navigate through a crucial stage of their lives and to become empowered to direct their energies toward the advancement of civilization.” - The Universal House of Justice
Between the ages of 12 - 15, younger youth are rarely offered an opportunity to contribute to the development of our local communities, yet this is a period through which creativity, a thirst for understanding and a desire to be part of progress are all particularly strong. Our open Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Programmes assist them to recognise their noblest qualities and to create projects that serve the community.
Study Circles
“The betterment of the world, can be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds, through commendable and seemly conduct.”- Bahá'u'lláh
The Bahá'í community offers a sequence of courses that reflect on the Holy Writings of Bahá'u'lláh to provide practical skills in improving our spiritual lives. These skills include facilitating all of the above activities.
Whenever there are a few individuals ready to start, we can usually get a new study circle underway.

Throughout the year there are many Holy Days which we mark with gatherings at which everybody is welcome., such events include a description of the event being commemorated.
We are also happy to arrange meet-ups with anybody wishing to learn more about the Bahá'í Faith, simply get in touch to arrange it.
